Kids Safety Programs
Safety Solutions
Parents be sure to tell your PTA groups, Schools, Day-Cares and
Pediatrician Office about these Child Friendly Workshops!
Parenting Consultant and Child Advocate, Cherylann Oliver will
co-facilitate these programs with Raeanne Criscio.
Raeanne has a Bachelor's of Science in Public Health with a
specialization in Health Promotion from Southern Connecticut State
University. She has worked as Program Assistant for Connecticut SAFE
KIDS at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Raeanne also worked as an
intern for the Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Hartford creating and
implementing programs on a variety of safety topics for children.
School Bus Safety Classes
Invite
Betty the Bus to show the children how to properly ride the bus.
Learning will take place through the use of songs, stories, crossword
puzzles, and word searches. The children will be able to enhance their
current knowledge of school bus safety by creating and performing in
their own skit. This program is excellent for preschooler through the
elementary years.
Bicycle/Helmet Safety
Bobby and
Brenda Bicycles would love to ride into your children's class to sing
songs and play safety games. Your children will enjoy learning though
their sense of touch, smell, and sight. This ride is full of twists and
turns but it is always safe.
Home Safety
Making
every room safe. Harriet the Home Inspector will help children and
adults learn how to have a safe home.
Fire Safety
Invite
Fred the firefighter to visit the children and learn about every piece
of firefighting equipment, the different types of firefighters, fire
hazards, as well as the types of clothing firefighters wear to keep them
safe. We will incorporate your facilities' fire escape plan while
introducing a home fire escape plan to the children.
911 Safety
In this
workshop the children will be able to practice how to properly call 911
through the use of a telephone simulator. We will also discuss what
emergency services 911 is for, and the most important information they
need to know. Tommy the Telephone will enhance safety tips and be a part
of interactive games that will help the children remember the importance
of calling 911.
Nutrition
Dudley the Food Dude will help children and parents glide through the
food guide pyramid. The food guide pyramid for both children and adults
will be discussed. Food safety will also be covered through the use of
handouts and interactive activities designed for all ages. The proper
time to introduce new foods to children will also be discussed as well
as sanitary concerns. Family time will be taken to a whole new level
after parents and children get involved with this program. Each
participant will be given an interactive, age appropriate recipe book
that can be used with children at all learning levels. Included with
this recipe book is a cooking safety guideline sheet that will allow
each recipe to be made safely.
